Team Brunette: Player
My Drive

What gets me out of bed in the morning is my family!! An amazing group of men and women from Nashville and Oklahoma through Dallas to San Antonio, each person has demonstrated astounding resiliency in the face of some hefty obstacles. They love and support me, which in turn makes me stronger, more capable, and more able to serve my community. I can always turn to them for advice and help – they are the reason I am who I am. I am here to make them proud!

About Kelly

At my day job I am Learning and Devlopment Analyst for Xerox. I attended The University Of Texas At Austin.

You may not know it, but...

I laugh out loud when I read to myself.

I play in memory / honor of... Gwen "GG" Nitschke A dear friend's Grandmother

I play because... Margie - the light of our lives, lost her battle with Alzheimer's in February of 2010. We saw her slowly slip away, until her body could no longer function. Her love for others, her joy, and her thoughtfulness will always be in our hearts. Margie loved animals, the Rangers, and her wonderful children and grandchildren. She talked frequently about life growing up and how she came to be the remarkable woman I was privileged to know. She is missed every day. I play for her Darrell - a Texas legend, Darrell Royal sometimes forgets he was a National Championship coach. I often see him when I'm in Austin at the basketball games, quietly watching the action on the court. Hook 'em, Coach Royal. I play for him Gwendolyn "GG" Nitschke - a mother, grandmother to my dear friend Brad, and great-grandmother to baby Kyle, GG loves her sweet family. She, like so many others, needs care and compassion. Raised near Wichita Falls, GG grew up, as she describes herself "a country girl." She married her childhood sweetheart. She has always been a very devoted grandmother. GG, as the g'kids called her, taught all of them bible verses, songs, how to read, and told enough bedtime stories about her farm life to fill a book. Some of their favorite childhood memories are of ranch visits, GG's home cooking and her love for them. She has a true servant's heart and a sweet, gentle way about her that endears her to everyone. I play for her.

Kelly Cushing 2012 Fundraising Goal: $0

This is my second year to participate in BvB and I am so excited to be back! Last year, the 4th Annual BvB game raised $260,000, exceeding our goal and making us so proud! Between coaches, players, spirit committee, and other fantastic supporters, we had 175 folks raising money for Alzheimer’s research! This year, I personally plan to raise $1,100 in support of BvB, team Bru Crew, and the Alzheimer’s Association. I hope you will help me out! What can you do? Great question, with a fairly simple answer… Buy A Ticket! A $25 donation gets you into the game and after party which is super fun. We’ll also be selling t-shirts, and other fun Swag! Game day is August 11, but I have to meet my goal by August 3rd to be eligible to play. Even if you can’t come to the game, buy a ticket to support the organization, the cause, and me! This year, BvB Dallas hopes to raise $275,000 and have 1,500 people in attendance. I hope you’ll be one of them! Please donate and help out in honor of Margie, and all the other countless we play for.
